A custom desktop pet is a fun way to spend more time with an original character. Instead of choosing a familiar character from someone else’s pack, you can start from artwork you made or are allowed to use. Peekoo generates an animated interpretation from a photo or character image. The important distinction is that it redraws the character: it is not a frame-by-frame importer that preserves your original linework.
Prepare one readable character reference
Choose a single pose with the full silhouette visible. A front or slight three-quarter view can make the face, outfit and major accessories easier to read than an extreme angle. Leave room around ears, hair, hands and feet rather than cropping them at the edge of the image.
A busy reference sheet may contain multiple outfits, small notes and expressions that compete with the main character. Make a clean export of the version you actually want to use. Keep your original layered file separate; the upload should be a purposeful reference, not your entire working document.
- Show one character and one outfit.
- Keep distinctive shapes and important color areas visible.
- Prefer a simple background with clear contrast.
- Use original artwork or obtain the artist’s permission for this use.
Design for the size you will actually see
Try viewing your reference as a small thumbnail before generating. If the silhouette disappears or the face becomes unreadable, those details may also be hard to recognize on the desktop. Large color blocks, a distinctive hairstyle or a memorable ear shape are easier to carry into a tiny character than a miniature badge covered in text.
You do not need to redesign your OC. Instead, decide which two or three traits matter most and choose a reference that shows them clearly. This also gives you a fair way to judge the generated result without expecting every decorative line to survive the transformation.
Pick a style with realistic expectations
The nine Peekoo styles range from pixel art and chibi to anime, watercolor and semi-real. A matching style name does not guarantee identical rendering: the generator can change proportions, small costume details or facial features. If exact linework or perfectly consistent animation frames are essential to your project, a manually authored animation workflow is a better fit.
Peekoo is for quickly creating a playful desktop companion. It should not be presented as a replacement for an illustrator’s finished animation, a rigging tool or a promise of commercial rights to somebody else’s character. Choose a style because you enjoy the interpretation, not because you expect a lossless conversion.
Try the desktop experience, then make your character
Download Peekoo for Mac or Windows and try the included pet first. When you are ready, open New Pet, add your reference, choose a style and activate a paid plan. Custom generation is subject to limits; it is not an unlimited free character factory.
After generation, check the character at a comfortable desktop size. Let it walk, type along or take a nap while you work. For a reveal post, put the original art and the desktop interpretation side by side. Credit the artist where appropriate and describe it as AI-generated animation rather than claiming that your original drawing was directly rigged.
